About HackHER

HackHER is a gender equal hackathon where female startup founders or co-founders will team-up with a development teams for a one day sprint to build an IT technical strategy for their idea/product.

  • Startups will be matched with development teams 
  • Mission : they brainstorm, create and pitch an MVP with an IT strategy
  • Hackathon style - 12h from 9am to 9pm on Saturday the 6th of May 2023
  • Diverse teams only (cross functional and gender balanced)
  • Facilitators, technical and business mentors will help them during the day
  • The jury will award the best team after the pitching sessions,
  • First prize : 5 000 euros for the winning team (to be shared of course!)
  • 2 webinars pre-event are organised to prepare the participants : "How to prepare a brief for a development team" & "How to pitch in 1, 5 or 20mn"
  • Registrations are open until 30th of April 2023 for startups and until 3rd of May 2023 for IT participants.

Who can participate?

Startupers / Ideas holders

  • Team of 2 maximum, at least one female founder
  • with a Scalable Business Model
  • Tech or tech enabled product
  • MVP Phase (testing problem market fit)
  • Sector agnostic

 

IT passionate & experts

  • Professional in IT
    Software engineer, Business analyst, Product owner,
    Product manager, Project Manager, UI/UX Designer
  • Students in Computer science, Informatics, Cybernetics
  • You can participate individually or
  • You can participate as a team of 4 people maximum : gender balanced and cross functional (a mix of skills including UX/UI, software development skills, BA, PM,  etc....) 
  • You are passionate with a high level of interest, and ideally experience,
    in designing and developing applications, processes, solutions.

The teams matching will be based on skills and gender balance, and it will be revealed at the HACKHER DAY.

The teams size will be maximum 6 people.

Course of the day

  • 8-9am : Check-in and gather with your team, enjoy a coffee
  • 9am : Welcome speech, program of the day, icebreaker
  • 10am-6pm : hack your project with your team
  • 12am to 5pm ; mentors will be around to help the teams
  • 1-3pm : Lunch buffet : enjoy your lunch when you want
  • 6:30-8:30pm : Time to pitch your project !
  • 8:30-9pm ; Jury deliberation 
  • 9pm : Award
  • Dinner & Celebration

Why a gender equal hackathon?

Because more women in tech and in entrepreneurship are essential for economic impact in Romania. Let's contribute with an impactful women empowering event, with gender balanced teams only.

All great start ups that today run our lives, like Spotify, Uber or Netflix have been successful not only because they solve a great
problem but because of excellent execution technologically. The experience is amazing, while behind the scenes there is an architecture of frames and circuits that is created to support the web design, the data flow, the cyber security, the output processing, and so much more.

Business ideas deserve great technology development to support the solution they promise to the clients. 
Entrepreneurs have great marketing and sales skills, business & economical background, they propose a solution to a problem they see, and are in search of a technical partner to put their ideas into practice and create together a digital experience/product that clients would love.

The founders know what the product should be, but not how to build it. IT experts need a context to meet young entrepreneurs and build something new, innovative, helpful for solving a real problem in the world. A practical experience in a side project of a start-up is an accelerated way to learn about the complete IT platform that supports a company product.

[HACK]HER is a proposal to create this context: a hackathon matching female startup founders & IT experts.
We propose to mix them for a prototyping day where they will meet each
other, brainstorm together and present an experimental for their technical strategy.
We invite mentors all day long to support them.
We invite investors for the pitch competition to measure appetite and collect feedback. The jury will award 1 winner. THE HackHER Winner !
